Music Theatre at Florida State University is a joint program offered throughout the Schools of Music and Theatre with the cooperation of the Department of Dance. It is co-directed by Gayle Seaton (Music) and Kate Gelabert (Theatre) with the intention to train and prepare students to work professionally once they complete the program. The greatest strength of the program is its joint nature, allowing
students and faculty to understand and explore the connections and
bring all three disciplines of voice, dance, and acting together.
During the four-year matriculation, students receive a liberal studies
education as well as concentrated training in performance, theory
and sightsinging, music and theatre history, repertory, and technical
theatre. Performance opportunities include musicals, plays, operas,
vocal ensembles, recitals and dance concerts. |
